Call for volunteers: Green Base Community crew #2

The Young European Greens are looking for new volunteers to join the Green Base Community Crew! As part of the team, you’ll be responsible for onboarding new members and boosting engagement within our Discord community, working closely with the FYEG Community Officer and an Executive Committee member. Of the 5 new volunteers, 1-2 will work as team coordinators.

The Green Base is our pan-European digital community where the magic happens behind the scenes. It’s where young greens from across Europe connect and work together to influence European politics. Our amazing community is flourishing, and we need active support to keep growing and engaging!

The Community Crew plays a key role in making our digital space feel like home. You’ll ensure that everyone feels warmly welcomed, create opportunities for meaningful connections, and help foster an engaging, fun environment where we can build deep relationships, and ultimately organise and fight together for change!

What’s in for you?

  • Expand your network by collaborating with young Greens across Europe;

  • Develop communication and leadership skills through welcoming new members and facilitating onboarding calls and digital events;

  • Enhance your moderation skills by activating and managing discussion channels: you’ll get to engage in topics you’re most passionate about!

  • Learn how to use Discord and its back-end tools, gaining valuable expertise in organising online communities;

  • Get creative coming up with fun and engaging activities like book clubs, gaming nights, conversations with inspiring guests, a stream of your favourite DJ set: it’s all up to your interests!
    (have a look below for some examples of what we’ve organised before)

  • Shape our inclusive community by helping define our Safe(r) Spaces strategy;

  • Gain valuable experience in volunteer engagement, community-building and organising;

  • Additionally, if you take on the role of team coordinator, you’ll get to grow your coordination and leadership skills while being supported in a safe environment.

What’s expected of you?

  • Active participation in online bi-weekly team meetings to plan tasks and strategise together;

  • Availability to participate in a strategic team weekend on December 5-7th 2025 in Lisbon (Portugal);

  • Day-to-day proactive engagement on Discord (ideally at least 1 hour spread out each week and ad-hoc interventions);

  • Planning for and facilitating online activities focused on your interests and role within the team;

  • Active participation in monthly digital training sessions (e.g. volunteer onboarding and engagement, digital events facilitation, Discord and security online, etc.);

  • An initial commitment of 6 months (late October 2025 to April 2026)

PRACTICALITIES

Please keep in mind, this is a volunteer role that requires a significant commitment of your time and energy. However, the rewards are immeasurable: you’ll get exclusive, behind-the-scenes access to the development plans and internal workings of the Young Greens. You’ll be contributing to a worthy cause while gaining unique insights, building valuable skills, and forming lasting friendships across Europe.

DEADLINE AND APPLICATION

If you're interested in joining our Community Crew and engaging our Green Base, please express your interest below and then complete part 2 of the application by Sunday, October 19 at Midnight CEST. We look forward to hearing from you!
