Social justice

Our big year-long Work Plan on all things social justice! Here’s just a summarised review of all the things that happened. Curious to know more? Click here!

  • March 2025, Croatia

We got together with 40 young Greens from all over Europe to redefine social justice, taking into account the human, environmental and animal aspects. Our main take-away: we can only talk about social justice when everyone has their needs catered for.

3 days of workshops, seminars, a conference organised by the European Green Party: no better way to kick off our Work Plan!

  • July-August 2025, Poland

Over the summer, young Greens gathered in Poland to deepen our practical understanding of applying socially just policies. We analysed existing policies related to social justice and proposed amendments.

  • Autumn 2025, online and Belgium

To close off the year, we regrouped online and completed a 4 month long learning academy on policy-making, meeting with experts and writing our own policy papers on biodiversity, inclusivity and food security.

2040 Climate targets & cop30 in Brazil

Because no matter where we come from, we all deserve the freedom to live without fear of suffocating heatwaves or devastating floods. Climate justice now!

🌍

  • We campaigned with MEP Lena Schilling to preserve the 90% emissions reduction target by 2040 - and we won! The European Parliament voted in favour of maintaining that goal.

This is thanks to people power: together, we organised a protest in Brussels, sent out thousands of emails to the national Climate ministers and did a digital spamming action.

  • Young Green Annah Bikouloulou went to Belém, Brazil for COP30, joined by MEP Lena Schilling.

Together, on the ground and in Europe, we pushed for social justice, the rights of indigenous people and against greenwashing.

Budapest Pride

Together with the Greens/EFA in the European Parliament and the European Green Party, we joined thousands of people from all over Europe who showed up to march with the brave Hungarian queer resistance.

We campaigned for the rights of LGBTQI+ in Hungary (and everywhere!) for months and said loud and clear: our diversity is non-negotiable, our existence is undeniable & our pride will NEVER be silenced.

Solidarity with

Palestine

In the face of the ongoing genocide in Gaza, we have been campaigning and advocating for justice and peace in Palestine. Only when everyone can live in peace and security, a peaceful coexistence is possible.

We took to the streets in protest, we emailed our governments, we put pressure everywhere.

We sent out over 10 000 emails to the Eurovision board to demand they ban Israel from competing in the event. No culture without justice!

Alongside a petition, we sent
1.7k emails to national governments demanding they protect the Freedom Flotilla.

No one is free until everyone is free.

Animal rights

Together, we sent 1.7k emails to Green Members of the European Parliament demanding they sign the Uncage The Law Pledge for immediate, science‑based action in favour of millions of sensitive beings still bearing immense suffering under outdated and ruthless rules.

Social justice is incomplete if it does not consider the well-being of the planet and all living beings 🍓

At its foundation, social justice establishes systems of dignity, equity, and fairness for everyone, and that must include non-human animals. We believe that fairness, compassion and responsibility shouldn’t end with our species.
