FYEG is opening a vacancy for a Project Officer starting from July 2026 at the latest (exact date negotiable) in its Brussels office.
What is FYEG or the Federation of Young European Greens?
FYEG is an international NGO registered and operating under Belgian law. We are a dynamic youth organisation that unites Green youth movements, young Green activists and Green political organisations from all over Europe. We organise youth projects, summer camps, international trainings, conferences, campaigns, direct actions and serve as a youth lobbying organisation and a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among European Green. Role description
The Project Officer is responsible for implementing FYEG's Annual Work Plan and linked thematic projects. This means taking ownership of several FYEG's projects throughout each stage of their development: 1. designing and conceptualising project proposals, 2. preparing and submitting grant proposals and funding applications, 3. budgeting and financial management of projects, 4. coordinating the preparation and implementation of the project (including logistics, program, communication, outputs, dissemination, etc.), 5. coordinating Preparatory Teams of volunteers responsible for the implementation of the projects, 6. coordinating and keeping contact with all stakeholders, 7. evaluating and reporting on the project. The Project Officer will also support the general functioning and development of FYEG’s activities with ad-hoc tasks.
This is a junior position requiring good organisation and time management skills, responsibility, ability to work independently and often under time pressure. The Project Officer works under the supervision of the Secretary General and the Executive Committee of FYEG.
Requirements:
Proven experience in project management;
Proven experience in event organising and planning, especially youth events;
Relevant experience in grant application and reporting, including financial reporting – experience with the programmes of the Council of Europe’s European Youth Foundation, and with EU grants, is particularly valued
Good organisational and time management skills;
Ability to take initiative and problem solving attitude;
Good computer skills and digital literacy;
Proficiency in the English language;
Good people skills and the ability to work in multi-cultural teams and environments;
Good teamwork and personal communication skills;
Flexibility to travel and occasionally work during evenings or weekends.
Additional assets:
Previous participation in FYEG events;
Previous involvement in a local or international youth organisation;
Knowledge and experience with non-formal education methodology;
Understanding of Green values such as ecology, feminism, anti-racism and social justice;
Knowledge of other languages;
Experience of working in the non-profit sector.

Working conditions
Job Title: Project Officer
Line Manager: Secretary General
Contract: Permanent Contract
Working hours: 35 hours/week over 5 days with flexible working hours, core working hours between 10:00 and 16:00 and possible teleworking
Salary (gross): 2450€/month gross salary (approximately 2100€ net, depending on your personal situation)
Benefits:
8€ worth meal-vouchers for every day worked (averaging 160€/month)
Coverage of daily transport between home and work (amount dependent on the distance and mode of transport)
Telework allowance of 125€ per month
Holidays:
20 days of paid legal holidays per year
additional holidays between December 25th and 31st
Where: The selected candidate will be required to be based in Belgium from the start of the contract in July (exact date negotiable).
