Call for participants - The Future Is Green: Youth Assembly

The Federation of Young European Greens is announcing an open call for participants for “The Future Is Green: Youth Assembly”, an international activity that will take place from 30 March to 1 April 2023 (arrival on 30th March in the morning, departure on 2nd April) in Brussels (Belgium) hosted by FYEG and the Greens/EFA in the European Parliament.

This flagship youth event of the Green Group in the European Parliament and FYEG will consist of 3 days of exciting programme including meet-ups with Green Members of the European Parliament, campaigning training and workshops designed according to the principles of non-formal education, and one public event where to meet influencers, artists and decision-makers.

The aim of the event is to connect young campaigners, community organisers, politicians and young candidates to a new generation of Green young leaders, and set a solid base for improving youth participation at the national and European level during election times in 2023 and 2024. The concrete objectives are to:

  1. Communicate the urgency to address threats to democracy;

  2. Inspire young people to play active roles in influencing politics and elections;

  3. Offer a journey in two parallel tracks, one for potential young candidates and one for young activists.

If you are motivated to bring the Green wave in your country and everywhere in Europe, if you are excited to mobilise around elections to increase youth power and representation everywhere in Europe, you should apply to join us in Brussels at the end of March! This is also your chance to start working with Young Greens from all over Europe to shape FYEG’s campaigning journey towards the 2024 EU elections.

SHOW YOUR INTEREST TO PARTICIPATE BELOW, it takes one minute!

IMPORTANT: after showing your interest you will be sent the official application form via email, that you will need to fill in by January 15th at Midnight 2023 in order to complete your application.

Participants: We are looking for 45 young people between 15-35 years old, residing in one of the Council of Europe member states, Belarus, Russia and Kosovo*. We welcome applications reflecting diversity in all forms and we encourage applications from those who identify as women*, LGBTQIA+, POC, or with a disability or other health impairment.

Language: The main language of this activity will be English, but not being comfortable interacting in English should not prevent you from applying.

Costs: Your costs of participation in the event - including lodging (accommodation in multi-bed rooms, vegetarian or vegan food), visa, covid tests - will be fully covered by the organisers. Additionally, travel costs will be covered up to a given amount based on actual travel costs from your place of residence to Brussels. Participants will be asked to combine the most economic and environmentally friendly way of travelling (lowest price + travel time + CO2 emissions).

Participation fee: In exchange, FYEG asks you to contribute with a participation fee depending on your country of residence and your means, as follows:

  • Category 1 (North and West region countries): EUR 70 (base fee) or 110 (solidarity fee)

  • Category 2 (South and Centre region countries): EUR 50 (base fee) or 80 (solidarity fee)

  • Category 3 (East region countries): EUR 30 (base fee) or 50 (solidarity fee)

An overview of the categories for each country is available HERE

Please assess whether you would like to pay the base or the solidarity fee based on your financial situation. The solidarity fee is in place for applicants who have the means to contribute a bit more in solidarity with others. Applicants for whom paying the fee is an obstacle for participation should still apply. FYEG will try to find a solution together with the applicant when the selection is finalised.

Covid guidelines: Following FYEG COVID guidelines, we are only accepting participants who are fully vaccinated. Being fully vaccinated means that you got the final dose of your vaccine at least 15 days before the event AND the booster if it is available for you according to your country's regulations. Those who are ineligible for vaccination due to health conditions and have a medical report that proves it are also welcome to join. We may require all selected participants to present a negative covid test (PCR or antigen) taken in the 48 hours before the start of the event. More information on Covid requirements will be sent to selected participants.

DEADLINE for filling in the online application form: January 15 2023 at Midnight CET. You will be informed about the results of the selection in the first week of February.

Applications are now closed.
