We’re Hiring: Communications and Campaigns Officer

FYEG is opening a vacancy for a Communications and Campaigns Officer starting November 2024 (date negotiable) in its Brussels office.

What is FYEG or the Federation of Young European Greens?

FYEG is an international NGO registered and operating under Belgian law. We are a dynamic youth organisation that unites Green youth movements, young Green activists and Green political organisations from all over Europe. We organise youth projects, summer camps, international training, conferences, campaigns, and direct actions and serve as a youth lobbying organisation and a platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge among young Green activists. Role description

The Communications and Campaigns Officer plans and implements FYEG's external communications and digital campaigns, coordinating with the Executive Committee and office. Responsibilities include:

  1. Developing communication and campaign strategies.

  2. Coordinating with stakeholders, from other members of the European Green Family to other youth-NGOs, like-minded civil society organisations, etc..

  3. Producing graphic and media content.

  4. Leading the execution of communications, and executing digital campaigns in collaboration with the Community Officer.

  5. Evaluating data collected on communications and campaigns.

  6. Supporting the maintenance of the IT tools and internal channels of communications of the organisation.

The role requires strong organisational, creative, and independent working skills under pressure, with opportunities to collaborate with green activists and movements. The Communications Officer reports to the Secretary General and Executive Committee.

With this job, you will have the opportunity to work at the heart of the Green family in Brussels and be involved in politics at the European level. You will also have the opportunity to travel Europe and work with activists from across the continent. 

Requirements

Skills & Expertise:

  • Experience in social media management

  • Multimedia production skills (graphics, video, photo, and audio)

  • Campaigning experience (election, digital, or other)

  • High proficiency in the English language (C2 or native) and strong writing and editing skills

  • Good understanding of European politics

  • Experience in Green politics, movements, or activism

  • Good understanding of Green values such as ecology, feminism, anti-racism, and social justice, and how to communicate around these values

  • Excellent people skills and the ability to work in multi-cultural teams and environments

  • Good teamwork and personal communication skills

  • Good computer skills and digital literacy

Additional assets

  • Experience in digital campaigning;

  • Knowledge of other European languages;

  • Knowledge of Action Network or other digital campaigning platforms and CRM;

  • Previous involvement in a local or international Green organisation;

  • Experience of working in the non-governmental sector;

  • Networking skills;

  • Previous participation in FYEG events and bodies;

Responsibilities

  • Oversee FYEG’s internal and external communications.

  • Plan and execute digital campaigns on a diverse range of issues. 

  • Create social media content for multiple platforms.

  • Manage and develop FYEG’s visual identity and communication tools; including following up on and identifying trends.

  • Manage FYEG’s online presence (websites, social media, emailing).

  • Create and edit graphic, video and audio content.

  • Design work for both digital and physical media. 

  • Analyse data from websites, social media, and mailing lists.

  • Coordinate campaigns and volunteers.

  • Produce and distribute press releases.

  • Monitor European political developments.

  • Event photography.

  • Provide support for FYEG events and ad-hoc tasks.

  • Networking with partners, including Greens/EFA in the European Parliament, the European Green Party and our member organisations.

  • Working hours

    • 35 hours/week over 5 days with flexible working hours and an optional half-day on Fridays. 

    • Core working hours between 10:00 and 16:00 and the possibility of teleworking 2-3 days per week.

  • Salary (gross)

    • 2450€/month gross salary (approximately 2100€ net, including the telework allowance, depending on your personal situation)

  • Benefits

    • 8€ worth meal vouchers for every day worked (averaging 128€/month)

    • Coverage of daily transport between home and work (amount dependent on the distance and mode of transport)

    • Telework allowance of 125€ per month

  • Holidays

    • 20 days of paid legal holidays per year

    • additional holidays between December 25th and 31st

    • The selected candidate will be required to be based in Belgium from the start of the contract. (exact date negotiable).
