  • Get Out The Vote - Catalonia!

    Joves Ecosocialistes (Catalonia, Spain)
    Date awarded: 21/02/2024
Project duration: 5 months (February to June 2024)

As part of the Get Out The Vote campaign, Joves Ecosocialistes organised various activities and campaigns, highlighting the importance of encouraging young people to vote to decide their own future, based on democratic values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

In Catalonia, two festive and revindicating events were held, accompanied by digital activism and a constant campaign across various disciplines. The project was conceived in December 2023 through a brainstorming session in the internationalism sector, with the support of the entire organization to ensure a democratic process.

The first event took place on May 18, 2024, in the Clot neighborhood of Barcelona, featuring musical performances and speeches by activists such as Carla Galeote, Andere Nivea, and Cinta González, who emphasized the importance of young people's votes in the European elections. The second event was held on June 1 in Premià de Mar, with similar presentations and speeches.

Additionally, digital activism actions were carried out, including videos with interviews of young people about the EU and an intensive dissemination campaign through social media, flyers, and posters to promote knowledge and participation in the elections.

  • No Europe Without U <3

    Protests (Latvia)
    Date awarded: 20/02/2024
Project duration: 5 months (February to June 2024)

During the GOTV campaign, Protests organized 2 types of activities. First, they carried out art performances in Riga and Daugavpils. In Riga, they featured 27 participants, dressed uniformly displaying the flag of one of the 27 EU member states. While the participants were navigating in a single line on wooden boards in the capital city, they were accompanied by volunteers who collected pledges and distributed brochures about the EP elections. The performance ended with a trust fall, symbolizing unity and trust between EU member states and emphasizing the importance of citizen support through voting. In Daugavpils, the performance took place with 3 artists representing the Baltic states. The volunteers gave out brochures, collected pledges, interviewed passers-by, and invited them to join the performance by giving out a shirt with a different EU member state’s flag and GOTV branding.

Along with these performances, the campaign consisted of non-formal education workshops in 2 regional schools. 4 volunteers worked with 30 12th-grade students at each school by dividing them into 3 groups, rotating through stations focusing on the election process. Teachers and students were interviewed, and the discussions were shared on Protests’ social media.

    Date awarded: 05/03/2024
Project duration: 4 months (March to June 2024)

Green Youth and Students of Finland organised a project that consisted of two parts. The first part was a national event that gathered around 50 young volunteers from all over Finland and went to Helsinki to organise a big event together. The event took place on Saturday evening in one of the main squares in central Helsinki and reached around 600/700 people. There was a live rap collective gig that attracted many young people and a food truck where you would get a free vegan snack if you signed up for the pledge to vote in the EU elections. In the second part of the project, some of the money was redistributed to 5 local Green Youth organisations so that they could plan and implement smaller events in their cities.

  • Allenati a votare!

    Giovani Europeisti Verdi (Italy)
    Date awarded: 28/03/2024
Project duration: 4 months (March to June 2024)

Building on its strategic planning, the 'Voto-bike' project executed six cargo bike city tours in May and June 2024, marking its impactful presence in key Italian municipalities. These campaigns fostered lively exchanges on democratic values, reinforced by engaging discussions and tangible commitments to vote. Participants were incentivized with eco-friendly and thematic GOTV-branded gadgets, reinforcing civic engagement. The project's success was amplified through a dynamic social media campaign. By navigating through diverse urban landscapes, the project not only raised awareness but also inspired active citizenship, setting a benchmark for future party initiatives in electoral mobilization.

  • SYG GOTV Edinburgh

    Scottish Young Greens (Scotland)
    Date awarded: 14/03/2024
Project duration: 4 months (March to June 2024)

The Scottish Young Greens have implemented the SYG GOTV Edinburgh project. This project was made up of two actions: a European food festival and on-campus stalls. The food festival happened in March, and SYG joined up with external student groups in Edinburgh to put on a celebration of European food and democracy, targeting numerous politically inactive EU citizens to pledge to vote. The second action consisted of two stalls at the University of Edinburgh, in which SYG targeted students at the University, educating students about their vote, enabling them to pledge to vote, and spreading the word to other students. With these two activities, SYG activated numerous politically inactive young people, particularly EU citizens, to pledge to vote in the European Parliament election.

  • GOTV Leafleting and informative disucssion

    DWARS, Groenlinkse Jongeren
    Date awarded: 16/04/2024
Project duration: 3 months (April to June 2024)

DWARS engaged a leafletting action in Utrecht, a major city in the Netherlands where the DWARS office is located. Utrecht is a city with a lot of students, therefore the belief was that this could convince a lot of young people to go out and vote. On June 4th 2024, DWARS members handed out GOTV-centered flyers to people on a busy square in Utrecht. Collecting pledges was a major part of this effort.
The GOTV Informative Discussion was supposed to be the bigger of the two activities. DWARS had invited and gotten confirmations from prominent politicians and other people with political backgrounds to discuss European political topics, such as Climate Justice, Migration and European security. The expectation was that there would be between 200 and 250 guests, from both DWARS and outside DWARS. Unfortunately, less than 10 guests confirmed less than two weeks before the event, and despite increased efforts to market the event as it got closer, there simply did not seem to be much interest. As such, the event had to be cancelled.

  • No EU without U

    déi jonk gréng
    Date awarded: 29/04/2024
Project duration: 3 months (April to June)

déi jonk gréng organised two leafleting actions and a GOTV event called "No EU without U".

The No EU without U Event at de gudde Wëllen in Luxembourg had the balance of an interesting political event with an engaging and diverse round table, followed by a FLINTA* DJ Duo where people danced against fascism, racism and all discrimination. An evening filled with laughter and sharing stories on how each of the speakers got involved in politics, created a safe space and put emphasis on the importance of every vote in these elections. Whilst new non-political people were drawn to the event, the mixture of already politically involved people was a wonderful breeding ground for collaborative future work. Many young people attended, progressive young from across the border of Germany and France, and different content creators who support the progressive values all gathered. After this event déi jonk gréng organised two actions of leafleting in the city centre and schools to encourage young people to vote.
