FYEG expresses deepest condolences to the Norwegians

Love to OsloAfter the two brutal attacks in Oslo and Utøya, Norway, the Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) expresses its sympathy for the families and friends of the victims. We strongly condemn these acts and the ideology of hatred behind them.

Since its foundation, FYEG has been fighting for tolerance towards and inclusion of all people. We are sad to see the outcomes of the nationalist, racist and fascist ideologies which are still present in all European societies.

Nic Schaefers, Co-Spokesperson of FYEG, commented on the tragedy in Utøya Youth Camp: "FYEG stands for intercultural exchange and democratic inclusion. That young people include themselves actively in political decision making is extremely valuable for democracy and makes these acts direct attacks on democracy itself".

Terry Reintke, Co-Spokesperson of FYEG, added: "Our thoughts are with the families of the victims and with the survivors of the attack. FYEG was shocked about the islamophobic reflexes in the European media after the attacks. This just strengthens our belief that the fight against racism all over Europe has to be continued. Next to AUF (Arbeidernes Ungdomsfylking), we carry on the fight for an inclusive, equal and democratic Europe!"
