Call for Prep-Team: Seminar "Social Commons: Back to future" (CLOSED)

The Federation of Young European Greens is announcing an open call for members of the international preparatory team for the seminar “Social Commons: Back to Future” that will take place from 14 - 19.03.2018 in Poland.

We are currently witnessing big transformations in the management of our common goods around Europe. These processes have very concrete consequences on the lives of young people and it is important that youth is involved in designing the ways we manage our social rights. Sustainable commons are a prerequisite for participation overall and the ways they are managed can serve as examples for many different types of participatory processes. Management of commons is very important for the resources to be sustainable and accessible for everyone in the community.

Commons are goods that are neither private nor state-owned. They are managed by a  community and often play a vital role in the life of a community. Social commons can be a society's health care system, education, social security system...

We plan:

  • To develop an in-depth understanding of social commons and of how they correlate with young people's access to rights;
  • To increase the capacities of young people around Europe to advocate for social commons;
  • To train young people in campaigning for commons, among large segments of society through effective online campaigns as well as through targeted advocacy in institutions on local and regional level;
  • To start the process of creating a dictionary of commons.
