Call for Participants: FYEG Delegation to COP26 (CLOSED)

Would you like to represent FYEG at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference and other meetings that prelude the Conference?

The 26th Climate Change Conference is planned to take place in Glasgow, Scotland between 1 - 12 November 2021, after it has been postponed for one year due to the coronavirus pandemic. We have been living with the global pandemic for one year now and the next global crisis, the climate crisis is also here.

The Climate summit this year, in Glasgow, Scotland, UK, is a key moment for our fight for climate justice. For the first time since the Paris Agreement, countries have to update their plans and commitments in fighting climate change. This year, in addition to taking part in actions and mobilisation, FYEG will have an official delegation, inside the negotiations. Will you be our climate justice warrior on the spot?

Are you interested, inspired and involved in the effort for climate justice? Do you have the time, skills and knowledge to represent FYEG at COP this year? If so please apply to be part of our delegation to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change before Wednesday, 17th of March 2021 23:59 CET


  • Basic knowledge in Climate/Environmental Science
  • Interest and experience in environmental policy making, and/or climate activism or green movements
  • Knowledge on Green values such as ecology, feminism, anti-racism and social justice
  • Experience and knowledge in climate negotiations is an asset

What you need to know

  • The COP delegation is expected to follow climate negotiations and climate policy developments and support FYEG’s communication efforts on climate policy
  • The COP delegation is expected to attend YOUNGO and other climate network or policy meetings that are useful for FYEG to be present
  • The COP delegation is expected to take attend*:
    • SB52: Intersessional taking place online in June 2021 (exact dates to be confirmed by the UNFCCC)
    • COP26: Planned to take place in Glasgow from 1 - 12 November 2021
  • Number of accreditations available to attend the negotiations is decided by the UNFCCC Secretariat. FYEG has 6 to 8 spots available, that should be shared within the delegation
  • FYEG will try to increase the number of accreditations, however, not every delegate might be able to attend all the negotiations on the spot if they happen in real life
  • This is an unpaid position. Travel, accommodation and food costs that will incur in order to attend the negotiations will be covered by FYEG
  • Members of the delegation are expected to attend recurrent delegation meetings to coordinate the work. The meetings can be monthly in the beginning and bi-weekly towards the negotiations
  • The Delegation is open for participants coming from Europe. If you are based in another region and interested in taking part in COP26, please check out the Global Young Greens call for COP26 Working Group

*Please note that these events might be moved online due to the pandemic and please be prepared to take part in it regardless in which format it will take place.
