Call for interns. There is a seperate application for each internship.

1. Projects and Non-formal education

 

The Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) and Greens/EFA Group in the European Parliament are looking for one intern to support them in their project and non-formal education work. It is a paid full-time internship.

The Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament is a political group made up of Green, Pirate and Independent MEPs (Members of the European Parliament) as well as MEPs from parties representing stateless nations and disadvantaged minorities. It aims at building a society respectful of fundamental human rights and environmental justice. More at: www.greens-efa.eu. FYEG is a dynamic, inclusive organisation that unites Young Green activists, Green youth movements and political organisations from all over Europe. It advocates and campaigns for political change, and serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge among Young Green activists. More at: www.fyeg.org.

Internship:

The internship and working hours are shared evenly between the FYEG office and the Greens/EFA group in the European Parliament. The work will consist of 1) assisting a member of staff of the Greens/EFA group in European Parliament, 2) assisting the FYEG Office, 3) liaising between the Greens/EFA group and FYEG office. 

The intern will work under the joint supervision of a Group staff member and FYEG’s Project Manager. They will be involved in organising and implementing FYEG’s events and projects: from the closing of the 2021 work plan centered on Democracy and Inclusion to the preparation of the 2022 activities focused on Mental Health. They will support the Greens/EFA “Rights & Democracy” cluster for the preparation of the Group’s activities related to the Conference on the future of Europe.

Requirements:

  • Be a student or recently graduated with an officially recognised higher education degree,
  • Be aged 18 or over on their internship start date,
  • Not have any other internship or professional activity in parallel,
  • Good knowledge of English (both written and oral),
  • Good writing and computer skills
  • Availability to occasionally travel abroad, 
  • Showing initiative and the ability to work independently,
  • General knowledge and interest in the topics of citizens participation, institutional and organisational reforms, mental health, non-formal education or project management would be an asset,
  • General knowledge and interest in politics and a strong interest in Green politics,
  • Commitment to Green values and experience in grassroots activism or/and involvement in FYEG Member Organisations or structures.

Practicalities

This full-time internship is foreseen for a period of 5 months from mid-September 2021 until mid-February 2022 (exact dates to be agreed upon). Working time is 35 hours per week with flexible working hours and occasional work in the evening and on week-ends. In addition to public holidays established within the European Parliament, the intern will have 2 days of holiday per month. The intern will also receive a monthly allowance of 1300 EUR. 

Following the COVID-19 pandemic and it’s evolution, part of the internship may have to be performed remotely through teleworking, the intern will nonetheless be required to be based in Belgium for the period of the internship. This will be organised and communicated on accordingly, in line with the development of the sanitary crisis and following guidelines adopted by Belgium, the European Parliament and the FYEG office.

2. Communications and campaigns

The work will consist of 1) assisting a member of staff of the Greens/EFA group in European Parliament, 2) assisting the FYEG Office, 3) liaising between the Greens/EFA group and FYEG office. 

The intern will work under the joint supervision of a Group staff member and FYEG’s Communications Officer. They will be involved in co-creating and implementing FYEG’s communication plans and campaigns. They will also work in the Greens/EFA Communications department supporting the Communications Assistant (for example with the preparation of the media monitoring reporting, collecting information for press work, taking minutes for the weekly communications meetings).

Requirements:

  • Be a student or recently graduated with an officially recognised higher education degree,
  • Be aged 18 or over on their internship start date,
  • Not have any other internship or professional activity in parallel,
  • Good knowledge of English (both written and oral),
  • Good writing and computer skills,
  • Availability to occasionally travel abroad, 
  • Showing initiative and the ability to work independently,
  • General knowledge and interest in communication and campaigning, skill in graphic design or communication and campaign skills would be an asset
  • General knowledge and interest in politics and a strong interest in Green politics,
  • Commitment to Green values and experience in grassroots activism or/and involvement in FYEG Member Organisations or structures.
