Are you FYEG's next Communications & Campaigns Officer? (CLOSED)

We are opening an exciting vacancy for a techno-industrial worker and communications revolutionary at a European political organisation like no other.

The Federation of Young European Greens is a growing youth organisation that represents around 50 000 young activists from all around the continent. External communication is a crucial part of our work and we are known for and proud of our fresh and innovative approaches. FYEG’s Communications Officer plays a central role in making sure we stay on top of our game. A big milestone in our political work will be the next European elections in May 2019.

We are looking for a creative and ambitious person who will plan and carry out FYEG's external communication and coordinate parts of FYEG’s election campaign. We particularly appreciate your skills to develop stories we want to tell about our organisation and about political developments in Europe, to catch up on what works and what can be interesting to try out on different social media platforms, and to produce audiovisual content. We also value your capacity to plan and carry out online and offline campaign activities.

In terms of political communication, we expect you to follow political events around Europe, and in particular in European institutions, and get through fresh Young Green perspectives on what is going on using different channels. As for FYEG's activities, we expect you to get out the voices and the outcomes from our diverse projects and campaigns to a wider public as well as our partners. FYEG's activities range from seminars to summer camps to direct actions. We will be in full campaigning mode for the European elections until May 2019 and you will have a crucial role in carrying out our kickass campaign together with our Campaign Team, Executive Committee and Member Organisations. Until the elections, about half of your time will be devoted to FYEG’s general communication, and half to the campaign. We also expect you to be responsible for general communications-related tasks in the Secretariat, such as taking care of FYEG’s technical equipment and managing FYEG’s website.

You will be working with a talented and fun team of Young Greens in our Brussels office, in the heart of European politics and Green activism. You will work closely with the Secretary General and the two Co-Spokespersons on a daily basis in order to shape and get out FYEG's messages. The work also involves travel in Europe.

You will have the following tools at your disposal:

  • experience in social media management
  • multimedia production skills (photo, graphics, video and audio)
  • strong writing and editing skills
  • campaigning experience (election or other)
  • an interest in European politics in general and Green politics and activism in particular
  • ability to work autonomously and take initiative
  • ability to take over tasks a dynamic office environment may require during a campaign
  • an excellent command of English

  • language skills
  • networking skills
  • project management experience, such as organisation of events
  • a good understanding of Green values, such as ecology, feminism, anti-racism and social justice, and how to communicate around these values
  • previous involvement in a local or international youth organisation
  • previous involvement in a Green party or youth organisation

  • Location: FYEG Office in Brussels, Belgium.
  • Working time: 38 hours per week, flexible working hours and occasional need to work on weekends.
  • Remuneration: 1600 EUR gross/month + benefits such as meal vouchers and transport allowance worth 235 EUR/month.
  • Contract type: One-year contract with the possibility of prolonging. Start date to be negotiated.

People from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply as we strive to have a diverse and inclusive working environment.
