Call for participants: Seminar "Social Commons: Back to future" (CLOSED)

CLOSED CALL

The Federation of Young European Greens is announcing an open call for participants of the international seminar “Social Commons: Back to Future” that will take place from 14 - 18.03.2018 in Poland,  in cooperation with Polish Young Greens.

“Social Commons: Back to Future” is the first step of FYEG’s commons Annual Work Plan programme supported by the European Youth Foundation.

We are currently witnessing big transformations in the management of our common goods around Europe. These processes have very concrete consequences on the lives of young people and it is important that youth is involved in designing the ways we manage our social rights. Sustainable commons are a prerequisite for participation overall and the ways they are managed can serve as examples for many different types of participatory processes. Management of commons is very important for the resources to be sustainable and accessible for everyone in the community.

Commons are goods that are neither private nor state-owned. They are managed by a  community and often play a vital role in the life of a community. Social commons can be a society's health care system, education, social security system.

We are looking for 25 young people between 16-35, residing in one of the Council of Europe member states, Belarus or Kosovo, who are interested  to develop an in-depth understanding of social commons and of how they correlate with young people's access to rights

Together with selected participants, we will work to increase the capacities of young people around Europe to advocate for social commons.

The full cost of accommodation, food, and refreshments during the seminar will be covered by the organisers. Participants from EU countries, Switzerland, Norway and Iceland will have 50 EUR participation fee, and 70% of their travel costs reimbursed (up until the limit). Participants from Eastern European non-EU countries will have a 30 EUR participation fee, and 90% of their travel costs reimbursed (up until the limit).
