Through this seminar, parallel to the UNFCCC COP21 in Paris, we aim to raise the awareness of young greens both within and beyond FYEG on the importance of the upcoming Climate talks and on why Civil society mobilisation is much needed, at times when governments and elected leaders don’t seem to pin Climate action on their to-do-list.. The seminar will be focused on informing young people about the UNFCCC processes and give the participants the opportunity to be active in the civil society movements and mobilisations in Paris, along with opportunities to participate to the Conference of Youth (COY 11), different events of the Greens – EFA group, Jeunes Ecologistes Federal Forum, and the World People’s March on the 29th. What will be going on during the December 12 Mobilization in Paris?

D12, on the Saturday following the end of the negotiations in Paris, is expected to be, according to major civil society and environmental organisations, the start of a serie of major civil disobedience actions for the Climate. Therefore, we as FYEG consider as essential to open up the possibility for young greens keen on participating in radical actions and civil disobedience to be present on this day in Paris, along with other major civil society movements. The event will include a visit to the European Parliament, workshops and trainings on non-violent direct action (especially in the frame of the Climate Games), action preparations and trainings on the follow up of the 2015 Climate mobilisation. Indeed, mass occupation and disobedience actions will be organised all over 2016 especially targeting fossil fuel extractive industries for example. After the training, participants will be brought to Paris by coach and will be able to take part of the ongoing disobedience actions in the city.

Main Objectives of the seminar:

  • Build up knowledge on European policies on Climate

  • Strengthen the links between young Green organisations and civil society movements in Europe and France
