Les Jeunes Ecologistes export their campaign "Energy Revolution" at the World Social Forum (Tunis) PDF Print E-mail
Member Organizations News
At the beginning of March, Les Jeunes Ecologistes  have launched their biggest campaign to date on the Energy Transition,  calling on young people to be to the fore of the French national debate  on energy issues. Based  on three dimensions – a revolution for employment, for our daily life  and for the planet -, the Energy Revolution campaign demonstrates that  the energy transition is able to revolutionise our way of life.

In this framework, the French Young Greens organised a workshop "Energy transition: towards a new model of development?" with ATTAC, and CRID – Ritimo at the Word Social Forum in Tunis. Find more information:

What's happened in Dresden
„Oma, Opa und Hans-Peter, keine Opfer sondren Täter!“
alt                                                           „Granma, granpa and Hans-Peter, no victims but culprits!“

In the time of frantic shopping to celebrate commercial feast of st. Valentine, in Dresden they are remembering the end of the WW II, when Dresden were bombed and around 25 000 people died. This feast (on 13th of February) is misused by the rightist radicals making of the Germans the innocent victims of  the bombing. Fortunately the blockade of their marches became the tradition too. The Czech Young Greens participated on this year's blockade.

The Czech Young Greens send to Dresden one car full of the activists. Jakob Wilke (international secretary) describes the preparations: „This trip was possible only by the cooperation with the Young Greens of Dresden, who had invited us for one day before the blockade. We've profited this time to mutual familiarising and thinking about future cooperation. The evening before we've visited the solidarity concert and the next day we blockaded together. I'm convinced that this common experience and succes will become the quality base for the future cooperation.“

100 metres cross - Don't oversleep the referendum! Go to Vote! PDF Print E-mail
Member Organizations News
altOn  27 January 2013, in Bulgaria a referendum was held on the issue whether  the country should develop nuclear power through the construction of a new nuclear power plant. Currently Bulgaria has one nuclear plant "Kozloduy" and another one, "Belene", is in a project phase and there is still discussion should it be build or not.

The day before the referendum, in order to encourage people to go to vote -  the Bulgarian Young Greens together with other enthusiasts organized a 100 metres cross in the snowy weather dressed up in... swimsuits! The motto was "Don't oversleep the Referendum! Go to VOTE!"

This was the first democratic referendum in the history of Bulgaria - so far in the Modern history of the country there were 3 other referendums. The election rate on 27th January was 22% - of which around 60% voted YES and 40% NO.

"Our  cause was more social rather than political. We wanted to show citizens that they should be active and be aware of the importance of their votes.", said Marina Dragomiletzkaya  (member of the Bulgarian Young Greens and recently elected Chairperson of the Green party in Bulgaria).

"The referendum itself pushed forward discussions not only on nuclear power, but also about direct democracy mechanisms for citizens' participation. The Bulgarian referendum law needs to be reformed in order to serve citizens and enable them take important political decisions", added Krassina Demireva (Bulgarian Young Greens/ FYEG Executive Committee).

FYEG on CensorGaYnoWay
The Federation of Young European Greens together with Ecolo J and Jong Groen joined in a the solidarity protest "Russia: Censor gay?! No Way!" which took place in Brussels in front of the Russian Embassy. The protest was organized by the Belgium LGBT+ movement and supported by many citizens and organizations. The protesters had banners like: Gay rights- NOW!, Stop Homophobia!, Censor gay?No Way! RasPutin etc. and they were protesting peacefully in front of the Embassy for one hour.

The main reason for organizing this protest is the law for banding "homosexual propaganda" on National level. Just last year, in Saint Petersburg, a similar proposal successfully passed on a city-wide level.
On the 22nd of January, the Duma will cast the vote and if this new law passes, the Russian Federation will be able to hand out fines up to 12.000 Euro's or sentence jail-time to those LGBT+ organizations and people that in their view are guilty of "propaganda". In other words, the work of these organizations will be censored.
Furthermore, this would be the end of all anti-discrimination or HIV-prevention campaigns, it would be the end of all debate about LGBT+ rights - also in schools. A simple kiss in public between 2 LGBT+ individuals would be outlawed.
